When there is a break-in in her home, interior buyer Helen is in shock. She secretly mourns for her lost belongings with which she had intimate relationships. With this theft, she discovers that she has lost a part of herself that is not easy to replace. When she invites her friends over for an evening re-decorating her house, her detachment of her surrounding leads to a lurid finale.

Director – Malu Janssen
Malu Janssen (1989) is a director and screenwriter living in Amsterdam. She studied theater and film studies at Utrecht University before entering the Netherlands Film Academy where she graduated in 2016. Her graduation film OUR OWN (Eigen, original title) is a short film about identical twin sisters trying to find an identity of their own during a spiritual retreat. OUR OWN premiered at the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur before traveling to other festivals like Palm Springs Shortfest. She just finished her new short STUFF which she wrote and directed, about a woman’s far reaching love for her design objects. Currently she is cowriting her first feature film THE DUMPED, about a girl attempting to get out of the underground waste container she was born in. The Dumped was presented at the Cinemart of 2020 at IFFR. Malu aspires to make films that engage with their audiences and that don’t only appeal to the emotions, but even more to the mind. She likes both realism and surrealism in order to explore the ways of people.
